Description

Climbing in western KY is varied and spread out. There is quite a lot of history to most places, but many of the historical climbing locations are closed because of private property. If you want to boulder, check out Clifty Hollow, which hosts a lot of problems and endless variations, and maybe the best boulder problem in western Kentucky, Werewolf.
Top roping is possible at Hunter Bluff and a few scattered sport lines exist, but their bolts are questionable and often old.
For those looking to get off the deck, check out the two-pitch Hawkwind at Dismal Rock, bolted in 2019.

I don't honestly know that much about the climbing history of western Kentucky but no one else has updated these pages so I figured I would go ahead and do so. Let's be honest, eastern Kentucky has us beat, but by no means is western Kentucky bereft of rock. There is still plenty out there to be explored. Be careful of private property!

Getting There

Western Kentucky is not a destination location by any means and the locations are scattered throughout the state.
