Description

Nehantic State Forest is located in south-central CT, specifically East Lyme and Lyme.

This a totally fresh bouldering area that has a bunch of good quality rock throughout the forest.

Right now, the only developed area is off of Keeny Road in Lyme. Updates will come soon.

Getting There

There are two parking areas that offer the best access.

The first is on Grassy Hill Road at 41°25'09.8"N 72°15'40.1"W ( goo.gl/maps/RSFQJdfwPdGS2bRx5) Take the dirt road that trends south east that is blocked by the locked gate. At one (1) mile you'll come to a trail junction you can take the left here and follow it for awhile. When you come to the pine forest keep your eyes peeled for the boulders on your left. There is a faint trail on your right just as you exit the pine forest. If you follow this trail it will take you to the bigger boulders.

The second parking area has room for 5-6 cars if you park them tight (don't be that a#*hole who takes up two spots) on Whistletown Road approx. here 41°23'38.7"N 72°15'39.9"W ( goo.gl/maps/jzFmHyob5refQLdGA). The parking lot is posted and is on the west side of the road. The trail is across the street from the parking area and slightly up the road. Follow the trail to the dirt road then follow the dirt road. About 500 feet or so you'll see a trail fork on your right. Follow the trail. After 50-75 feet there is another very faint trail that you can follow to the 50' tall wall - or you can continue down the trail another 3/4 of a mile or so and take the next trail to your right (just after the small boulder)...
