Description

There is a small crop of boulders just off of Murray Hill rd. They run along both sides of the Patuxent river. The rock quality is surprisingly good but the rocks also tend to be on the smaller side. Small local crag that hosts a lot of easy to moderate climbs.

Getting There

There is a small gravel parking lot next to the bridge, well it's enough room for like 4 cars total. This is the only free parking I am aware of, there is a parking lot down the road but it is private for the pool and local stores. Park at your own risk. Right next to the parking lot there is a trail head that has three different paths. One goes along the river, one in the middle, and one that goes up into the forest. You want to take the one that goes up into the forest and hike for about 1-2 min to get to the first boulder. You will be above them and need to walk down a steep hill to get to any of them. If you keep walking along this trail you'll hit more boulders.

To access to the other side of the river you will need to walk across the bridge from the parking lot to a small trail in the tree's to your left, if you hit a paved path you have gone too far. Just up this trail there are about 3 boulders within 1-3 min walk.

The last boulder is near the powerlines. To get there you can either go through the forest and walk along the river on a deer trail(this way has a lot of tall grass), or you can go to the paved path(it's longer but flat walking, about 5-7min). To get to the paved path from your car just walk over the bridge and past the entrance to the forest and there should be a paved path to the left. To the right is a 3 way stop sign.
