Glenmeal Climbing

Glenmeal State Forest is located just south of Pierrepont, NY off of County Route 24. There are three main areas of climbing: The West Side, Near East and Far East. These areas can be reached from three separate parking areas: all of which located about 1 mile from the intersection of County Routes 24 and 29. The West Side parking area is located on the right when approaching from that intersection. The road will curve left and guardrails will border the road. Take a sharp right onto a dirt road at the immediate end of the guardrail. Park in the field at the bottom of the hill. The Near East parking area is located on the left side of the road directly across from the West Side turn-off. The Far East parking area is located on a dirt road (closed during the early Spring) that enters Glenmeal State Forest. The turn off for this dirt road is on the left and indicated by a school bus sign on the right. If you reach the other two parking lots you have gone too far. Follow this dirt road to the end for parking.

The approach for these areas range from 2 minutes (West Side) to 15 minutes (Far East).
