Description

Although The Monument is not a destination area for ice climbing, there are a couple of routes to be climbed when the conditions are right. No Thoroughfare Canyon offers at least two climbs; an upper and lower falls, with the lower falls being the better of the two. Cameron Burns also mentions Ute Canyon Falls in his guide book but cautions that it can be "really thin and melted out".

Getting There

The Colorado National Monument is located just outside of Grand Junction. Get on CO Hwy 340 (Redlands Parkway) and take Monument Road to the East Entrance of the park. If you're going to Ute Canyon, take Redlands to S. Broadway, turn south and drive 1.3 miles to Willow Drive. Turn left and follow it for about a half mile until you see a trailhead on your right.
